Free Proposal Software in 2026: What You Actually Get

Trial or plan? The distinction that matters
A trial is full access for a fixed window, then a paywall. A free plan is a smaller product you can use forever. Both are useful, but only one lets you send a proposal in month three without paying.
- Proposify — 14-day trial of the Team plan, no card. Then $19/user/month.
- Better Proposals — 14-day trial, no card. Then $13/user/month.
- Bonsai — 7-day trial. Then $19/user/month for the tier with proposals.

What a real free plan looks like

What free plans normally hold back — and what to check
- Branding. The commonest catch. Check which tier removes the vendor’s name before you send anything to a client.
- Volume. A free plan with two documents a month is fine for testing and thin for running a business. Know which you are doing.
- Whether the good part is gated. Plenty of tools put the feature you came for behind the paywall and give away the parts you would not have paid for.
Honest advice
If you send one or two proposals a month, a free plan is genuinely enough and you should not pay. If you send ten, you will outgrow every free tier in the category within a month — at which point the question is not free versus paid but which paid model suits you, per seat or flat.
